“At a Spirit level, self-love is knowing that you are a part of creation and are absolute perfection. You are born and made from love; it’s your permanent nature, and your guiding force in life. At a human level, self-love can be really challenging; we may use harsh words with ourselves, compare ourselves to others and then feel less than. Or we might feel undeserving in some area of our life. A lack of self love also shows up as ignoring and overriding our feelings. You may catch yourself saying things like “It does not really matter. I am okay, don’t worry about me. I am fine. Let’s just move on.”
A big area where a lack of self-love shows up is how we view and relate to our bodies. We think we have to be hard on ourselves to make changes in our bodies. Think about it. When you talk about your body, do you find yourself saying things like, “I hate my butt/waist/arms,” or “I hate my cellulite,” or “I wish I were taller, thinner, or had thicker hair?” Do you see your body more as an “it”? A nuisance, embarrassment, or a problem? You are certainly not alone here. Take a moment and tune in to yourself about how you currently relate to your body.
So many of us have been raised in a society where we have been taught to value achieving perfect ideals: weight, face, home, relationships, money . . . These are our exterior relationships. We may not have been shown how to love our bodies, how to create a beautiful internal loving relationship with ourselves, tuning in with compassion to listen to our feelings, and create optimal health for ourselves by nourishing ourselves with organic vibrant foods and exercise.
Recognizing that our bodies are our home for this lifetime can shift us into a lighter, higher perspective. We are the custodians of these beautiful vehicles. They have an important job to do—transporting our souls around. It’s quite remarkable, when we contemplate this purpose. When we do, we often treat our bodies with more respect and care, because we tend to look after the things that we love and value.
Self-love will bring us good things, because it’s pure, positive, high vibratory energy and very magnetic. The Law of Attraction works on our behalf when we start using higher thoughts and words about yourself. Love will assist us in dissolving our problems, weight issues, financial issues. . . . How? Because Love is pure creation energy, and it helps us access our wisdom and the answers within us.
When you focus on self-love, expect an acceleration in self-esteem, health, and vibrant energy. When you are in love, you are in the highest place you can and ever will be.
To increase your self-love I recommend a daily practice. I enjoy using the power of Intention and Mantra’s. Your behaviors and attitude stem from your beliefs and thoughts about yourself. Try taking a different approach and say to yourself … “Today I am choosing to love myself, to be kind to myself, and to treat myself with respect.” Don’t let a day go by where you have not expressed your love to the important people in your life, including YOU!
